Greetings to all South Norwalk Boat Club Captains.  With Memorial Day now behind us, the summer season has officially begun.  After a winter that saw more snow and cold weather than we have seen in a long time, I know we were all hoping for a warm and sunny Memorial Day weekend.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.  With all our Club events and boating we have planned for the season, let us hope that trend does not continue.  Even with the iffy weather we had, it was nice to see the Tiki area open when it could be.  Many people were taking full advantage, and it is a great sign of things to come.

This coming weekend will be our annual Commissioning festivities.  Our sold-out Clam Bake on June 5th is promising to be bigger and better than ever.  There will be multiple courses, large lobsters & steaks, and a fantastic assortment of desserts.  But don’t worry if you were unable to get a ticket.  All members are welcome to join after dinner for socializing and music by DNR.  Commissioning Day will be on June 7th and tickets are available now.  The event will begin at noon with our Commissioning Day ceremony.  This is where we will be blessing our fleet, honoring our departed Captains and awarding our scholarships.  Once our ceremony is complete, the cookout will begin.  In addition to our large selection of food choices, there will also be games for kids and music by Dreamin.  Tickets are $20.00 a person if purchased by today, June 1st, and $25.00 after that.  Kids under 8 will be free.  Volunteers will also be needed for all our events, starting on the evening of June 3rd.  Whether you are able to help with setup, serving, cooking, or cleanup, even an hour of your time can make all the difference.  Volunteerism is the backbone of what makes our Club so great, and I am always happy to see that so many of you can lend a helping hand.  To keep the good times going, our second cookout of the year is scheduled for June 9th, followed by our next cookout on June 23rd.  Our first cookout was very well attended, and a great time was had by all.

Our entertainment schedule is also very full.  In addition to our nighttime entertainment on Fridays or Saturdays, there will be entertainment most Sunday afternoons.  It is a great way to close out the weekend after stepping off the boat.  All we need is good weather so we can have entertainment outside as much as possible.  The deck will also be opening for food service so you can have a good meal with a great view.  With summer always going by so fast, we need to make sure we take full advantage while we can.  Your Club is the perfect place to make that happen.  If there is anything that you need, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  Thank you all and see you around the Club.

Best Regards to Everyone,

Jonathan Bove, Commodore
